Hello whoever is reading this ☻.
A lot of people might think I'm CRAZY for putting my life on hold for 18 months to serve a mission for my church- the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They think I'm even crazier, when they learn about all the rules I have to live by- no tv, no reading books (besides authorized church-approved books), no calling home when I'm upset, no flirting with cute boys (*sigh*... jk), no sleeping in, studying for 3+ hours a day.... It'll be hard. But it will be equally great. The greater the risk, the greater the return ;) #financegems [I'm a business major btw]
It may seem restrictive to have all of these rules, but I'm grateful for them. They are there to help each missionary stay focused on their purpose: to invite others to come unto Christ.
I really am so stinking excited.
I leave in 22 days.
AHHH. I decided to serve a mission when I was 16. And now it's TWENTY TWO days away. Is this real life?!
To answer my blog post..
I'm serving a mission because I love Jesus Christ, and I know He loves me too. I want to share His light and love with others. I can't imagine living a life without the guidance/comfort/knowledge of the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I want to help others have that JOY too!
To be honest, I'm slightly terrified to serve a mission and learn a new language, new culture, new EVERYTHING. But it would be so selfish of me to let that stop me.
Let me explain how I ended up being called to the Brasil, Curitiba South mission!!! Every missionary for my church goes through the same process. We fill out an application, send health records, meet with church leaders.. it's loads of fun ;) When everything is finalized, our application is sent to the PROPHET and 12 APOSTLES. (fun fact: yes there is a modern-day Prophet here on the earth. Shoot me an email if you want to know more!!!!) These men pray and receive revelation directly from Heavenly Father as to where each missionary should go. They read our application, look at a picture of us, and sometime in that period, they just know where we need to go.
To me, this process is an example of how much our Heavenly Father loves and cares for EACH of His children. It isn't random as to where I ended up being called. It's exactly where I need to be. ☺
I can't express just HOW blessed I feel to serve the people in Southern Brasil. I'm so stinking excited to share the JOYFUL message of Jesus Christ's Gospel.
